2026 Monthly Essential Oils
Each month in The Thriving Aromatherapist Community, we center our studies around one essential oil, taking time to explore its chemistry, energetics, and therapeutic presence in both practice and life.
These oils become our companions for physical issues, emotional clarity, nervous system support, and inner growth. Whether you’re blending, reflecting, or simply pausing to breathe, each one offers a distinct wisdom and has their own therapeutic properties to meet you where you are.
Here’s a look at the oils we’re journeying with this year:
January – Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens)
Cypress offers gentle structure during transitions. It supports emotional movement, clears congestion (especially grief or overwhelm), and brings quiet strength when navigating change.
February – Elemi (Canarium luzonicum)
Grounding yet uplifting, Elemi supports emotional integration during growth and healing. It brings clarity to transitions and helps calm agitation while keeping energy flowing.
March – Black Pepper (Piper nigrum)
Warming and energizing, Black Pepper restores motivation and clears emotional fog. It helps reconnect with courage and focus when emotional stagnation or fear blocks momentum.
April – Frankincense (Sacra) (Boswellia sacra)
Spiritually centering and emotionally soothing, Frankincense sacra invites reflection, clarity, and emotional spaciousness—especially during times of grief, disconnection, or overwhelm.
May – Sweet Basil (Ocimum basilicum ct. linalool)
Sweet Basil helps clear mental fatigue, emotional fog, and digestive stress. It centers the nervous system and encourages calm communication and emotional clarity.
June – Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
Roman Chamomile is calming and emotionally softening. It soothes agitation, eases emotional reactivity, and nurtures rest—especially when emotional stress shows up in the body.
July – Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara)
Neroli brings soft emotional strength and spiritual presence. It calms nervous tension and reconnects the heart to hope, inspiration, and gentle joy during times of grief or emotional fragility.
August – White Fir (Abies concolor or Abies alba)
White Fir is uplifting and emotionally clarifying. It helps clear stagnant energy, supports breath and nervous system renewal, and offers a refreshing sense of internal stability.
September – Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium)
Petitgrain offers a blend of lightness and grounding. It calms nervous agitation while supporting mental clarity and emotional regulation, especially during stress and sleep disruption.
October – Carrot Seed (Daucus carota)
Carrot Seed is emotionally strengthening and energetically anchoring. It supports regeneration and clarity, making it especially helpful during emotional fatigue or transitional phases. But there's Wild Carrot Seed and Cultivated Carrot Seed Oil and they are very different!
November – Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
Grapefruit refreshes and uplifts. It supports lymphatic flow, emotional clearing, and helps dispel heaviness or fog, bringing gentle lightness back to body and mood.
December – Sandalwood (Santalum album)
Sandalwood offers deep grounding, spiritual clarity, and emotional restoration. It soothes inner restlessness and supports calm presence, making space for quiet connection and sacred reflection.
