Scented Healing: Trauma-Informed Aromatherapy at a Women’s Refuge
When we began exploring the essential oils, I encouraged everyone to focus on how each scent made them feel rather than simply listing the therapeutic properties of each oil.
I recently had the opportunity to run a series of aromatherapy workshops at a women’s refuge, where my primary focus was creating a safe and welcoming environment. The sanctuary provided support to women who had experienced various forms of trauma, including domestic violence and displacement, and I wanted to offer an experience where they felt in control and empowered.
