The Oil Within the Plant: Rosalina
Known affectionately as "lavender tea tree," rosalina carries qualities of both namesakes without being a mere imitation of either.
Introduction
It was about a year into my aromatherapy studies when I first stumbled upon rosalina (Melaleuca ericifolia). At the time, I was still learning to decode the vast personalities of essential oils, how each one carried a signature, whether subtle or bold. When I saw the Latin name that started with Melaleuca, my mind immediately braced for a whiff of something tea tree–like, sharp and medicinal. Instead, I was surprised, pleasantly so. What met my olfactory bulb was not the bracing pungency I had anticipated, but a unique aroma, soft and herbaceous, touched with an earthiness and warmth that felt both grounding and soothing. It was a gentle reminder to make NO assumptions until you've opened the bottle!
